Ignite is a device that assists the visually impaired navigate the world around them with a smart cane that pairs with Bluetooth headphones and an app with the option to download commonly used routes. White canes cannot detect obstacles that are farther than the user’s reach, nor can they detect objects in front of the user’s face or at heights taller than the cane. The product will also have a visually impaired-friendly app that has live updates regarding your route and to keep track of any construction/roadblocks ahead; communicated to you by our optional headphones and any personal Bluetooth device. Rather than knocking against objects to navigate roads, our product helps guide the visually impaired in a way that best benefits their needs. Using live GPS updates and a variety of sensors and personalization settings, our product allows users to travel safely and efficiently. We hope to make them as comfortable as we can in an environment that wasn’t made for them.
