With an increase in remote learning and working, especially with COVID-19, a number of issues have presented themselves, one of which being the lack of motivation to complete tasks. Individuals appear to be unengaged, unproductive, and distracted at home on a daily basis. Days start to blend together, and your only memory is sitting at your desk, typing “thank you bye!” in a zoom chat, wishing the next day would come. I’m sure we’ve all been there. Note to mention, how many times has your teacher taken 20 minutes to complete attendance? A TA bot can automate select tasks, decreasing redundancy, therefore allowing more time for valuable and productive teaching sessions. Moreover, bots can create a lively environment and interact with students. If this problem is overlooked, not only will there be an absence of productivity and motivation, synchronous learning times will also be shortened. Tech O’Holics want to solve this problem within a week using our team’s diverse skill set. Our target audience is students along with teachers as this bot has been designed to help students learn and work remotely while making the teacher’s life easier. Students will greatly benefit by using this bot as it works towards keeping them focused, productive, and motivated. This bot primarily focuses on helping students worldwide, but if others such as industry professionals find our bot useful, they are welcome to use it to their benefit. Our solution involves creating a bot through the discord platform. Users can access the bot through the discord app or the discord website. Users can use the chat in both the app and website to interact with the bot using specific commands. Discord is a massive platform that is very well-known within the younger communities. Having an easy-to-use discord bot to establish a more interactive community would benefit both teachers and students. Tabby accommodates individuals with learning disabilities through functions like text to speech and shortcuts to accessibility settings. We also would like to use NLP for sentiment analysis. Inappropriate words can be censored to create a more welcoming environment. Images will have alternate text for those with impaired vision. Users can also talk to the bot through the voice channels making the bot do various commands such as playing music. In addition, Tabby will implement live transcription for voice calls to help those with hearing disabilities or those who may not be able to turn up their volume. Regardless of your identity, Tabby makes you feel celebrated, not just tolerated.
